Baskets from Bottle Caps
This is a interesting side project that I am working on with my sons, I thought I would share with our SignMonkey friends.
Why SignMonkey?
This SignMonkey extra shows a family side project: turning ground-up HDPE bottle caps into molded baskets.
The idea
- Collect HDPE plastic bottle caps.
- Grind the plastic into usable material.
- Heat and form the material into baskets and other small products.
HDPE is the plastic marked with a triangle and the number 2. It is common in everyday packaging, which makes it an interesting material for reuse experiments.
The project started as a hands-on way to explore making useful products from discarded plastic.
